Marc A. Hershberg
Managing Partner & CEO
Marc A. Hershberg began his career supporting investment portfolios at UBS Financial Services with total investment accounts in excess of half a billion dollars with partnered and affiliated banks, insurance pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, public capital markets, and private equity firms. Prior to founding TOPAZ, Hershberg focused on Originations and Underwriting at Brick Capital Group (“Brick”), a premier New York-based private equity and debt firm with $200+ million AUM. Hershberg is responsible for overseeing the origination and structuring of all of TOPAZ’s investment activities, as well as acquisitions, business development, investor relations, and overall strategic direction.Hershberg graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Management from Yeshiva University Sy Syms Business School and a Masters of Science in Real Estate Investments & Finance from New York University. Hershberg is considered a commercial real estate multifamily thought leader and news contributor. Hershberg spends much of his time involved with his family and philanthropically on a local, national, and international level.
J. Etan Friedman
Managing Partner & COO
J. Etan Friedman began his career working at Treetop Development. He worked there for 2 years alongside the Director of Acquisitions. Mr. Friedman was involved with the underwriting, due diligence and closing of over 2500 units across North America. Mr. Friedman dealt with both “free market” and government subsidized “HUD” properties. In 2017, Mr. Friedman left Treetop Development to begin growing Topaz Capital’s acquisitions and development platform.
Mr. Friedman holds an Honors Degree Cum Laude from Baruch College Newman School of Real Estate.
Marlene Siberski, ARM, HCCP, COS, CAM
VP, Asset Management
Marlene Siberski began her career at Summit Property Management, Inc, Benchmark Management as well as several years at leading national property management companies, SPM Property Management, where she served as Vice President handling all matters relating to multifamily property management services. Mrs. Siberski has managed up to 3,600 units with over 45 staff members during her career.
Mrs. Siberski joined TOPAZ full-time to serve as their acting Vice President of Asset Management after over 25 years of diversified leadership and management experience. Mrs. Siberski has in aggregate 25 years’ experience with multifamily mid-rise and garden-style (B-C-D), lease-up, conventional, affordable housing, condo-coop and new construction properties. Mrs. Siberski has a strong financial background and is well versed with budgeting and running budget meetings for new hires as well as having trained many new regionals and property managers on budgets. Siberski is sought after for her ability to work closely with leading operating / property management companies in helping their owners and principal investors understand their own assets.
Mrs. Siberski obtained her Bachelors in Science from the Luzerne County Community College with a focus on Management and Finance. She obtained her Accredited Residential Manager, Housing Credit Certified Professional, Certified Occupancy Specialist, and is a Licensed Florida Real Estate Salesperson and Certified Association Manager. Mrs. Siberski supports many local and national charities with the primary focus being supporting our veterans.
Chief Financial Officer
Mark “Mendy” Reich began his career at Ernst & Young as well as several years at a large distressed debt hedge fund, Golden Tree Asset Management, where he served as Assistant Controller handling all matters relating to accounting, tax, and financial planning.
Mr. Reich joined TOPAZ full-time to serve as their acting CFO while also acting as Managing Partner of River Edge Advisors LLC – a boutique accounting and financial consulting and back office firm. Mr. Reich has in aggregate 12 years’ experience in accounting / consulting to mid-sized corporations and partnerships. Mr. Reich’s clients over the years have included corporations, hedge funds and private equity funds. Mr. Reich is sought after for his ability to work closely with his clients in helping them understand the financial, accounting, and tax planning of their organization/s.
Mr. Reich obtained his Master’s in Business Administration from the NYU Stern School of Business with a focus in Finance and International Finance. He obtained his undergraduate from Touro College and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.
Creative Marketing Director
Jaclyn Alvarado began her career 18 years ago at various publishing and non-profits where she served as Creative Director of marketing.
Mrs. Alvarado joined TOPAZ to serve as their Creative Marketing Director while also acting as the Creative Director of J2 Design NYC, a graphic and web firm.
Mrs. Alvarado obtained her Bachelors of Graphic Design and Advertising from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
Executive Administrative Manager
Tatiana Selca began her career 18 years ago at various real estate companies and hedge funds where she served in an administrative capacity.Ms. Selca joins TOPAZ as their executive administrative manager while also acting as the office manager of the firm. Ms. Selca holds a liberal art degree from Westchester College.
